Zoom interview with Logan Brindley, Zero To Engineer Alumni
Logan Brindley was tired from lifting 5-gallon buckets full of chains every day and working late at night away from home. Poor sleeping habits, physically hazardous work: We miss the moments with our families that help us get through the day.
Logan knew it was time to make a change. The only question was when and how. He had suffered an injury on the job that led to a hematoma of the knee size of an apple. This left him out-of-work for a month. His warehouse employer didn’t acknowledge that he was eligible for workers’ comp. He was now on his own and knew it was time to move on. “That was when I realized that I was ready to move on. I’m working hard and looking for a new job.
Logan knew NexGenT was the right opportunity to get out of forklifts and knee injuries. His wife saw a Facebook ad and was eager to show him the option.

“It looked like fun!” Logan’s initial impression of NGT. Work is only as enjoyable as the enjoyment of it. It is important to find the joy in your work. Logan was like a fish to water when he joined the program.
He didn’t wait for his luck to turn around. He took action. Logan was determined to use NGT for the entire month of his recovery. He was ready for the world of information technology.
Logan’s Quick Tip
Take the labs! Do the labs before you consider taking any of these tests. I thought I could skip the labs and just get through the lessons, but I soon discovered that I couldn’t. It is absolutely necessary.
How did you get the job without any prior experience?
Logan was looking online for opportunities. He found an open position at Efusion programming and updated his resume to match the position. He applied with high hopes.
Although he knew he wasn’t qualified for the programming role, he tried anyway and was offered an interview. Logan spoke about his NexGenT training as well as his IT background. Logan spoke confidently about the topics he understood.
Logan was praised by the manager for his excellent fit in a system administration role. Unfortunately, the position had been filled a few days earlier.
Logan reflects on his conversation with the manager. “He said, “I wish I had discovered you before this because then I would have hired [you] for the administrative role on the spot!” Logan’s skills impressed the representative who spoke to him. He kept his resume.
