Data analytics firm Ryft made Wednesday its cloud-based, FPGA-optimized analytics platform on the AWS Marketplace.
Ryft Cloud’s accelerated analytics solution uses field-programmable gate arrays, (FPGAs), to perform data queries at significantly higher rates than traditional CPU-based platforms. This is up to 91 times faster according to Ryft benchmark testing.
Customers can now run Ryft Cloud on top AWS’ F1 instances family thanks to its availability on the AWS Marketplace. The F1 instance was first unveiled at the re:Invent conference in November and has been available to customers since April. It comes with either one FPGA card or eight FPGA cards, depending on the configuration chosen by the customer. It is intended for workloads that require custom hardware acceleration such as those in genomics research, financial analysis, and real-time processing.
Ryft CEO Des Wilson stated that Ryft on Amazon F1 makes FPGAs accessible and easy-to use. He also noted that Ryft has made significant feature and performance improvements to the most popular analytics platforms. Ryft’s open APIs and library of connectors make it possible for Amazon customers to immediately and easily access the many benefits FPGA-accelerated computing offers.
Ryft offers two Amazon Machine Images (AMIs) through the AWS Marketplace. The first is a toolkit for developers that allows them to integrate Ryft’s analytics capabilities in their applications or existing interfaces.
Ryft announced that the second AMI expands on the open-source Elasticsearch search engine and adds “expanded Regular Expression” and “fuzzy search capabilities.”
