China Telecom Progresses Into Digital Music Market

The eight album companies are Warner, EMI Music, UMG, Sony BMG Music Entertainment, Rock Music, Hurray!, Taihe Rye Music and Music Nation Group. Along with China Telecom, they have launched a new music brand called “Love Music”.

China Telecom says it has already successfully launched the service in 21 provinces in southern China, including Anhui, Chongqing, Fujian, Guangdong, Gansu, Guangxi, Guizhou, Hubei, Hunan, Hainan, Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Ningxia, Sichuan, Shanghai, Shaanxi, Xinjiang, Tibet, Yunnan and Zhejiang.

Miao Wei, deputy director of China Telecom’s Internet Value-added Service Department, says that China Telecom’s digital music combines many different music services like colorful ringtones, vibrating rings, online trial listening, online downloads, music information, online search and member services. Miao says that China Telecom will bind the music service with other brands to create a unique music-focused business pattern.
