Adolescents visited pornographic websites

CCCMSC juvenile delinquency prevention group and the China Youth Research Center jointly surveyed 24,000 Internet users under age 25: daily online time are 5.3 hours for adolescents which is 2.3 times of the national average level. 48.28% of adolescents were exposed to pornographic websites; 43.39% of them received emails containing violent, pornographic, threatening, abetting, inducing contents; 14.49% of them believed the false online information and had physical and psychological or property harms.

According to Haidian District Court statistics, robbery increased as the first crime after 1999 for the minors, and sexual crime cases have increased in recent years, and these two types of juvenile crimes, eight of ten, are internet-related. Survey shows that 69.4% of people think that the Internet or playing online games is a kind of decompression venting or feelings expressions in life. People on the Internet lack the pressure of “the presence of others” , so “the principle of happiness,” dominates the individual acts and vented emotions suppressed in daily life. On Internet, psychological adventures and challenges of young people were self-inflated, leading to vague values, the network behavior self-binding reduced, often leading to deviation or violation of social norms.

Relevant experts believe that China has no specific laws on the protection of minors’ online security, and the relevant provisions scattered in “Laws on Protection of Minors”, “Internet service sites Management Ordinance”, and the contents is imperfect, and feasibility is weak.
